FAQ
Everything People Ask Us
Straight answers on permanence, comfort, timeline, and cost. Something not here? Ask us directly.
The Basics
- Is electrolysis really permanent?
- Yes — it is the only method the FDA recognizes as permanent hair removal. Each treated follicle is eliminated for good and does not regrow. Hormonal changes can activate new follicles over time, which are treated as they appear.
- Does it work on grey, blonde, or red hair?
- Yes. Electrolysis doesn't rely on pigment — a precise current is delivered inside each follicle — so it works on every hair color, including grey, blonde, red, and fine vellus hair that laser can't see.
- Is it safe for dark skin?
- Yes. Because electrolysis never targets pigment, it's safe on every Fitzpatrick skin tone, I through VI. The mechanism is identical regardless of skin color.
- Do you treat men / all genders?
- Yes — everyone is welcome. Wurayo serves clients of every gender and treats every area electrolysis is appropriate for.
Results & Timeline
- How many sessions will I need?
- It depends on the area, hair density, and your hormonal picture. Typical facial plans run 12–18 months of sessions every 2–4 weeks. Your personalized plan is built at your consultation, and progress is reassessed as we go.
- How do I book my first visit?
- New clients book the Consultation + 15-Minute Treatment — a 45-minute appointment — and can add extra treatment time at booking for a longer first visit.
- Can I do electrolysis if I had laser before?
- Yes — very common. Laser is permanent hair reduction: it places follicles into dormancy but does not eliminate every one, and it cannot treat grey, blonde, red, or very fine hair. Electrolysis permanently finishes what laser leaves behind.
Comfort & Safety
- Does electrolysis hurt?
- Most clients describe a brief warmth or pinprick sensation and find it very tolerable. Comfort options — including applying an over-the-counter numbing cream about 30 minutes before your appointment — are discussed at your consultation.
- What should I do before my appointment?
- Don't tweeze or wax for two weeks before your session — the follicle needs its hair. Shaving is fine right up to the appointment. Arrive with clean skin, free of makeup or lotions in the treatment area.
- What is aftercare like?
- Mild redness is normal for 24–48 hours. Keep the area clean, avoid heavy sweating for 24 hours, and use SPF on treated skin. Wurayo Aftercare Oil is available in studio for $11.99.
- Is everything sterile?
- Yes — single-use sterile probes on every visit, autoclaved instruments, and documented sterilization logs. Hospital-grade sanitation is standard.
- Are you licensed?
- Yes — Texas TDLR electrologist license plus Texas Electrology Specialty Salon License. Licensing information is available on request.
